Perfection

Perfection - J.L. Spelbring It's been a while since I read a YA dystopian book, and I'm glad it was this one. J.L. Spelbring was able to create a magnificent world in this book. From the first page I was enamored with Ellysa. Created at The Center, she was the poster child for Hitler's vision. Blond hair, blue eyes with a little extra. Dr. Hirsch has managed to engineer children with superior characteristics. These children are to be models for future soldiers. Soldiers that were bred to eliminate anyone who isn't within the image the good doctor has envisioned. Each child created has at least one power to go along with their superior intelligence, speed, fighting skills and the ability to show no emotion. Self preservation and following orders are all that matters. Ellysa's power is mind reading. After a renegade is brought to The Center as a hostage, he reaches out to Ellysa to let her know things aren't what they seem. Ellysa does a little investigating, and finds horrors beyond her imagination. Armed with this new information, she decides to escape. Hardships follow and she is soon injured and lost. Renegades happen upon her sleeping and decide to take her in for medical attention. What she finds there is a shock to her entire belief system. Can she trust these renegades she has been taught to fear and eliminate? Lots of action and suspense. I can't wait to find out what happens next. The cliffhanger ending is fabulous!

Counterpart (Succubi & Incubi Assn., #1)

Counterpart (Succubi & Incubi Assn., #1) - K.J. Hunter-Brown I really liked all the characters in this book! I fell in love with Maya and Tristen right away. How could you not? Maya is spunky and Tristen is a sexy MMA fighter. You can feel the chemistry between them immediately. Maya is in love with Tristen, but can't act on it because she is a succubus. Tristen is in love with her too and doesn't understand why Maya can act like she cares for him but is unwilling to let their relationship go any farther than friendship. Tristen decides since he can't have Maya, he'll begin a relationship with Tori and keep the friendship with Maya. Can he have both? Melinda and Daniel are Maya's friends. Melinda is also a succubus and Daniel is an incubus. You can feel the bond between the characters. Ethan, enters the picture late. He is very mysterious and will only let the gang get so close. Lots of intrigue and mystery in this book. I loved it. And the twist in the epilogue? WTH? I can't wait to find out what happens next!!!

One Tiny Lie

One Tiny Lie - K.A. Tucker When I got the chance to read this book I was excited then I got nervous. I LOVED the first book in this series, Ten Tiny Breaths. That book was a five star, must read for me. Would this one be just as good, or were my hopes too high? Thankfully K.A. Tucker did not disappoint! I freaking loved One Tiny Lie! The characters were so well written, I felt as if I knew them. I was feeling every emotion they were. Ashton is the quintessential player. Tattooed, captain of the rowing team, cocky, and a womanizer. Not that the women are complaining! But, is there more to him than meets the eye, or is he just a jock? Livie is the younger sister that has always kept it together. A straight A student, never getting into trouble, always caring for others with little thought about what she wanted. She had a hard childhood. After losing her parents and almost her sister in a horrific car crash, Livie had to become an adult at the young age of 11. She has always had her life planned out. She will attend Princeton and become a doctor. Is this what she really wants, or is she hell bent on living the life her parents wanted for her?I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Darkfever (Fever Series, Book 1)

Darkfever - Karen Marie Moning So, I picked this book up because of the Alpha Showdown that The VBC holds each year. Barrons was a big contender, but what made me really notice was Ryodan was up against my man Reyes from the Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones. The final round between Reyes and Ryodan was a knock down, drag out, fight to the death. Sadly, Reyes lost the battle. But, I had to find out what all the hype was surrounding the Fever series. It was a good book, but not what I thought it would be. I had a hard time getting into it and it has taken me a while to finally finish it. Just when it was ending, I was starting to like it. But, aren't all first books kinda like that? There's so much background the author has to put in to make you understand books to come. I don't connect with girly characters. She was always talking about her clothes and what color fingernail polish she was wearing. *Boring* Though, I appreciate the way she was willing to find her sister's killer. She did make me sit up and take notice towards the end when she went all bad ass on the Unseelies and Malluce!Jericho was an ass from the start! He does have me intrigued though. I would like to know what he is. He was beginning to show a softer side when Mac got hurt, but he was still very closed off. All in all, I give it 3 stars. Do I need to read the next book? No, not really.

Waking Up Married

Waking Up Married - Mira Lyn Kelly Megan wants a baby, but not the hassle a husband. Connor wants the perfect family without the complications of love. They meet in Vegas and after a night of heavy drinking, they wake up married. Connor is over joyed, Megan doesn't remember it. Connor has to convince Megan that staying married is best for both of them. He suggests a three month trial and Megan reluctantly accepts with one stipulation....NO SEX. Connor agrees but accepts the "no sex rule" as a challenge. Will Megan be able to fend off Connor's sexual advances? Does she really want to? Can they both get what they want? I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley.

Trophy Husband

Trophy Husband - Lauren Blakely 3.5 stars. This was such a great story. McKenna's life was turned upside down by one night in Vegas. Her fiance calls to tell her he can't marry her the night before her wedding. And he has fallen in love with a stripper! Fast forward a couple years later while visiting her favorite diner guess who is sitting at the table next to her? Her ex-fiance with his new wife! Barry is a total DICK! I really wanted to reach into the book and beat the living hell out of him! After crying and cowering in the bathroom for hours, McKenna decides Barry isn't the only one who can have a trophy on their arm. She decides two can play that game. She takes her quest for a trophy husband public by announcing it on her fashion blog. And it's popularity catches like fire. Her fans will choose the final contestants. While she is in search for her trophy husband she meets a man that she really likes, Chris. Should she continue on her quest, end it and pursue Chris, or convince him to become a contestant? I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest opinion.

Taking Over Me: 1 (Geek Kink)

Taking Over Me (Geek Kink #1) - Sara Brookes Geek meets sexy Dom. And he's not your usual Dom. He doesn't like to spank or hit for any reason. This was a romantic BDSM book. It's definitely the softer side of BDSM. He does like to restrain her, but that's about as far as he goes. I really liked Patrick and his family. His mother was a blast. Alex, his brother, is in the middle of a divorce and in a lot of pain. I really want to fix him and make him happy. I'm pretty sure the author already has his HEA in mind. Elena, Patrick's Domme friend, is very interesting. I would like to read about her story! So many times we get the Dom version in BDSM I like to see a strong female Domme role. This was a sweet romantic read for me.

Beauty From Pain: 1 (Beauty Series)

Beauty From Pain (Beauty Series) (Volume 1) - Georgia Cates It took me awhile to get into this book. I liked the characters, I liked the proposition, and the fact that Laurelynn was in another country. Who hasn't wanted to go on vacation and have a sexy affair no strings attached? But it just didn't grab me. I'm not sure why. Maybe the fact that Jack was adamant about the terms of the "relationship" but almost immediately breaks his rules. I loved Laurelynn. She was the right combination of sass and sweetness. She didn't just melt at this feet, she made him work for it. Jack was sexy and kind. I even like the secondary characters. Jacks family, especially his mom and brother were great characters. I got into it just as it was ending, but I didn't know it was ending. It ends right in the middle of the story!!!!! I wanted to scream and throw a fit. Why, why, why would end it in the middle? Overall, I enjoyed it. Will I read the second book? I'm not sure. I'd like to know what happens with Jack and Laurelynn, but I don't absolutely have to know.

Seduced in the Dark (The Dark Duet, #2)

Seduced in the Dark (The Dark Duet, #2) - C.J. Roberts Just as dark, gritty and sexy as the first, but more emotional (if that's even possible). Of course, it could be that I was already emotionally invested in these damaged, f'd up characters.I am emotionally spent right now just having finished this book. I was so in touch with Livvie, I could feel her pain. This girl got under my skin and stayed there. My heart would ache for her one minute and soar with pride the next. She showed such strength through it all. It was the same roller coaster with Caleb but for different reasons. I loved it when he would show Livvie little pieces of himself and scream with frustration when he would push her away. My heart was shredded when we learned what happened to him, to find out how he had become the man he is. This book is written as Livvie telling her story to FBI agents. I wasn't sure about the format at first, but ended up loving it. Agent Reed, I don't know what it was about him, but I loved his character. I'm not really sure why we got bits and pieces of his and Agent Sloan's life, but I found myself wanting to know more about him. Agent Sloan? Not so much. I didn't really connect with her. Felipe and Celia, I came to like them quite a bit. *******SPOILERS BELOW***************I knew from the beginning, that Caleb wasn't dead. He couldn't be, I didn't feel it. So I wasn't surprised when he showed back up. I was surprised to find out what he had been doing. It went a long way toward redeeming himself. I was totally livid when he dropped her off after rescuing her. Just leaving her without any word for a year. WTF was that? The emotional torture was prolonged once again. However, my heart wanted to sing when he finally found her and had her meet him. I can't wait to read the next book. Told in his POV about that meeting and life after.

Losing Connor

Losing Connor - Amanda Alberson Wonderful, gut wrenching, tear jerking! This book made me ugly cry! I loved Cassie, but I loved Declan more. I know Cassie did what she thought was right, and it probably was the best decision for everyone, but it just killed me that Declan was hurting so much! Rory was another great character. He loved Cassie and was always there for her. I am so glad I got the chance to review this book. Definitely a must read!!! I will be watching this author!

Zoey Rogue (Incubatti #1)

Zoey Rogue (Incubatti #1) - Lizzy Ford Nooooo. She did not just end it there and leave me hanging!!! This book was just what I needed to pull me out of my reading funk. I absolutely love Zoey and Declan. Zoey is a smart, sassy, tough chick who knows how to handle herself. Declan is a sexy as sin Incubus who is determined to make Zoey his. I love the back and forth between them. I was glad that Zoey wasn't one of those chicks that claim to be tough but just fall at the guys feet with just one look. Neither one wants to to have a mate and both fight it as long as they can. Lots of action, mystery and steamy scenes! I can't wait to see what happens next!

On Every Street (The Artists Trilogy, #0.5)

On Every Street - Karina Halle Review later

Losing Me, Finding You (A New Adult Biker Erotic Romance)

Losing Me, Finding You - C.M. Stunich Austin is a biker who is in town for "bike week". Amy is a 21 year old preacher's daughter AND she's a virgin. If you're looking for the dark, gritty biker books like Undeniable and Reaper's Property, back away now. This isn't for you. While I wished Austin was bit more alpha, I really liked it. I do wish we'd have gotten more story about the club. I really liked the characters though and the action at the end. I'm not sure if there will be a sequel to this or not, but I feel like a lot of things were left open.

Strings (Hard Rock Harlots)

Strings - Kendall Grey 3.5 stars. Review to come.

Don't Hate the Player...Hate the Game

Don't Hate the Player...Hate the Game - Katie Ashley I really liked the concept of this book. Noah goes through a lot in this book. His best friend dies suddenly and horrifically, he still hasn't dealt with losing his Grandfather two years ago, and his dad is a no show in his life. Thankfully he has his mother and grandmother. I loved the relationship between Noah and his mom. It was very touching! I liked the characters, but didn't fully connect with them or the plot. I mean, we find out pretty early on who the "mystery" girl is. There's really no mystery! I kept thinking, that she was only making us think we knew, then she'd slap us with a twist. Nope never happened. That was a big a let down for me. Maddie was my favorite character. I would like to read a book from her POV. All in all, it was a good book, but I didn't feel the characters the way I would've liked. But in all fairness, I've been in a reading funk lately and can't seem to pull out of it.

Their Twisted Love (The Twisted Mosaic #2)

Their Twisted Love (The Twisted Mosaic #2) - Amelia James I love Amelia James' work. Her Twisted Pleasure, the first book in this series made me fall in love with Alex. And I couldn't wait to get my hands on him again with this book! James didn't disappoint with this second installment! I loved getting more of Alex and even liked Will more in this book. This book follows Talia as she tries to find what and who she wants. This one is HOT with a capital H! It should come with a warning label. While reading this book you MUST have access to: Your partner, BOB, or cold showers and plenty of dry underwear! You'll thank me later! *********There will be SPOILERS below***********************OK, I gotta rant about Talia, the heroine. I really liked her in the first book, I even rooted for her and loved it when she got revenge on the guys. But in this book, I wanted to reach in and pimp slap her, which is fitting since she acts like a whore through out the entire book. First, she's with Scott, her current boyfriend. Her work throws her into working in Denver for an attorney's office. Alex's office to be exact. One look at him and she's spreading her legs. She didn't sleep with Alex, but they did everything short of sex. So, she runs to Will who she does have sex with. She feels guilty and goes straight to her boyfriend's house to confess (while wearing Will's shirt) and ends up sleeping with him the SAME night! *cough* WHORE *cough* Then she runs back to Alex. The whole book she's running between Alex and Will! She has all these men lining up to please her and believe me, she lets them. She wants both Alex and Will, and I'm cool with that. After all, they had an awesome threesome in the last book. And if I could have that, I'd be jumping on it too. But, that isn't what is happening. She's using them and playing them against each other and I don't like it. Ok, enough of my bitching about Talia. I really love the characters and when Talia starts jerking my boys around the claws come out. :)I can't wait for the next book so I can find out what the boys plan to do about Talia. Will she choose Alex, Will or can they come to another agreement? Can she be faithful to just one? I can't wait to find out!
